KOAT Legal Analyst John Day discusses the impact of a sick juror in the Steve Casaus trial. The 9 men and 3 women jury deliberated for 4 hours on September 9 before being dismissed for the day. This morning, one juror called in sick, leaving deliberations on hold for the entire day. John Day explains to KOAT the longer the jury is on hold, the more likely outside influence can come in to play causing a mistrial. If a mistrial is declared, the entire jury selection, defense and prosecution will start over.
