Egolf + Ferlic + Harwood client Norm Gaume receives Dixon First Amendment Award

Congratulations to Egolf + Ferlic + Martinez + Harwood client Norm Gaume for receiving the prestigious Dixon First Amendment Award from New Mexico Foundation for Open Government (FOG).

Norm Gaume, a resident of Albuquerque, is a citizen activist who has been relentless over the last two years in using IPRA and OMA to shine a light on controversial decisions by the government to divert the Gila River. Gaume continues to insist that public officials discuss the issue in front of the public and even sued to open up subcommittee meetings of the Interstate Stream Commission.

In November 2015 Norm Gaume, represented by Brian Egolf, won his case against the Interstate Stream Commission.;The judge ruled the ISC violated the Open Meetings Act when;it approved two multimillion dollar contracts;for the Gila River Diversion Project in closed meetings.
